We are a maritime tour operator officially licensed by Turismo de Portugal (RNAAT 118/2011), the country’s official tourism authority. In addition to this official documentation, which guarantees our authenticity, we receive annual awards and support from the Portuguese government for companies that stand out for their high levels of performance and commitment.

3. How can I book a Rabelo boat tour on the Douro through the CTDouro website?

It’s very easy to book your trip with us. To buy your ticket for one of our Rabelo Boat Day Tours (lasting 1 hour or 2 hours), simply fill in the information to book your reservation on the specific page of the tour you want to buy on our website.

You will then automatically receive confirmation of your booking and your ticket! You will also receive all the information about the Boarding Point, the Itinerary and exclusive access to our Audio Guide App for Android and IOS smartphones or tablets.

If you prefer, you can contact us directly to make your reservation, by emailing info@ctdouro.com or calling (+351) 254 732 702. Once you have made contact with our colleagues, you will have to wait for the usual processing and indication of availability from the colleagues. Please note that the reservation is only valid once full payment has been made.

4. How far in advance should I book a Rabelo Boat Tour?

With the exponential growth, year after year, of the number of people visiting Pinhão and the Alto Douro Wine Region, most of our daily Rabelo boat tours sell out quite easily. We always advise our customers to make their reservation as early as possible to ensure their desired spot(s) on the preferred date.

5. I have sent my booking request by email. Is my reservation automatically confirmed?

No. When you send us an email to book a reservation for Private Rabelo Boat Tours, your request will be under review. Then, our Reservation Department will analyze it and contact you as soon as possible. After the approved review, your Boat Tour is only “reserved” after full payment (100% deposit).

Places on the Rabelo Boat Daily Tours are subject to reservation directly through our website.

6. How can I pay for my reservation?

To facilitate the payment of your experience, we offer three payment methods: Bank Transfer (you must send us an email at info@ctdouro.com) or Credit Card (Visa or Mastercard). The last option allows automatic confirmation of payment through our website. If you prefer to pay by Bank Transfer, you need to send us proof of payment to identify the respective payment.

7. Is it safe to pay by Credit Card?

Yes, this is a secure online payment. If you wish to pay by Credit Card, simply use the online reservation method on the page of your desired Experience, which offers an updated calendar and fields regulated by Regiondo, a partner entity that processes payments. Regiondo and our bank are the only entities that process your card data and ensure encrypted data transmission. Companhia Turística do Douro only receives information with the authorization result and instructions for proceeding with the booking.

8. Will there be any extra charge for making the payment by Credit Card?

Our prices remain the same, regardless of your chosen payment method. However, we remind you that payments are always made in Euros (€), and some foreign banks may charge exchange rates.

10. After payment, how do I know that my reservation is completed?

If you make your reservation directly through our Website, you don’t need to worry, as you will automatically receive your reservation confirmation in your email.

If you made the payment through prior consultation, after detecting the payment by our operators, you will receive an email with the final documentation. The email will include: necessary voucher(s) for the trip, relevant information, invoice, and receipt related to the purchase. After receiving this email, you can consider your reservation finalized. We emphasize that, even after sending the final documentation, our operators are always available to help with any doubts that may arise.

11. I have made the payment for my reservation but have not received the email with the final documentation. What should I do?

If the payment was made within the stipulated period, your reservation is complete. However, there may be some delay in sending the final documentation, as all reservation processes are meticulously reviewed by our team for security reasons. In this case, you will receive an email from our colleagues indicating the receipt of payment and the sending of the necessary documentation. Yes, we may be able to change your reservation, provided we have available places and/or this information is provided to us in a timely manner (up to 7 days before the date of the boat tour). In this case, we advise you to contact us as urgently as possible at info@ctdouro.com or +351 254 732 702.

14. I want to cancel my tour. What are your cancellation conditions?

If you wish to cancel your booking, you must inform us immediately. As we know that unforeseen events happen, we offer our customers flexible cancellation conditions, such as:

  • Rescheduling the reservation: if the rescheduling notification is received up to 7 days
    before the cruise departure date, Companhia Turística do Douro can
    facilitate the rescheduling of the reservation, depending on the availability of the
    promoting entity.
  • 50% refund of the total amount: if the cancellation notice
    is received less than 7 days before the cruise departure date.
  • No refund: if the cancellation notification is received less than 3
    days before the cruise departure date.

15. What happens if the number of participants for the trip I bought is not sufficient?

If the minimum number of participants is not met on a certain date, customers will be duly informed and may choose to refund the amount already paid or agree to change the route and/or the date of the tour, with the respective price variation and within the stipulated period.

Option 2: Voucher with Chosen Amount – You can also opt to define an amount of your choice for the Gift Voucher. The recipient can then use this value for any of the programs available on our website. In both options, the voucher payment is made at the time of purchase. After filling out our request form, we will send an email with the payment details and all necessary instructions. It depends on the type of tour you have chosen. At Companhia Turística do Douro, we offer two distinct types of tours:

  1. Shared Daily Tours: If you have purchased one of our Daily Tours, these are generally shared with other passengers. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Douro in the company of other travelers who share an interest in our magnificent region. Shared tours are ideal for those looking for a enriching and flexible experience.
  2. Private Tours: If you have opted for a Private Tour, it will be an exclusive experience for you and your group. In this mode, the boat and the experience are reserved only for you and the people you have chosen to include in your reservation. Private Tours are perfect for those looking for a more intimate and personalized experience, whether with family, friends, or for special occasions.

2. Do your tours include onboard explanations?

Yes, all our tours are enriched with detailed information about the points of interest along the Douro. 3. I am pregnant. Is it advisable to travel on your tours?

4. Is it possible to change the route of my tour?

Yes, it may be necessary for us to make changes to the previously defined itinerary. However, we will only do so under exceptional circumstances. Such circumstances may be due to at least one of the following situations (but not limited to): poor weather conditions, breakdowns/damage to the fleet, unexpected delays, strikes, unavailability of our tourist partners, transport interruptions or lack of safety, insufficient number of participants, among other unforeseen situations beyond our control. In case of an itinerary change, all customers will be duly informed.

5. What type of vessel will we use for these tours?

Our tours are conducted on Rabelo boats, symbolic and historic vessels of the Douro, which are a true icon of the Alto Douro Wine Region. These traditional boats, which once carried barrels of Port wine, are today carefully recreated and adapted to provide an authentic and comfortable experience on the Douro River.

  • Daily Tours: If you notify us in advance of your delay and there is availability, we will do our best to accommodate you on the next Daily Tour.
  • Private Tours: In the case of private tours, you should contact us to discuss rescheduling options, and we will always strive to find an alternative that suits your needs.
